Getting Started
House Yourself is a tenant-first houseshare and room rental platform based in Ireland. We connect people looking for rooms with tenants and property managers offering them. Unlike traditional letting platforms, we prioritise tenants who want to rent out rooms in their shared accommodation.
Visit our sign-up page and create an account using Google authentication. Once registered, you can immediately start browsing listings, saving favourites, or creating your own listing.
House Yourself is currently free for all users during our early access phase. Core features like browsing listings, searching with filters, and identity verification will always remain free. Premium features for agencies and landlords, such as multi-property management, will be available as a paid subscription in the future.
We currently focus on Ireland, with listings available across all counties. Our search and filtering system lets you narrow down by county, town, and area to find rooms in your preferred location.
Finding a Room
Head to the Browse Listings page to see all available rooms. Use our real-time filters to narrow results by location, price range, property type, and room type. Filters update results instantly without needing to reload the page.
Yes! When you are signed in, you can save any listing to your favourites by clicking the save button on a listing card or its detail page. View all your saved listings from the Saved page in the navigation.
Each listing detail page has an inquiry option that lets you express interest or ask questions about the property. You can also use the general Contact Us page to reach out to our support team if you need help.
Listings include property photos, price, location, property type, room details, available amenities, transport links, pet policy, housemate preferences, and an interactive map showing the approximate location.
Listing a Room
Sign in to your account and navigate to Create Listing. Our step-by-step form guides you through adding property details, room information, amenities, photos, location, and pricing. You can save your listing as a draft and come back to complete it later.
Yes. Our listing form includes a full image upload system. You can upload multiple photos of your property and rooms, reorder them, and manage them after your listing is published.
Absolutely. You can edit your listing at any time from your dashboard. Changes to key details may require re-review, but you can update photos, descriptions, pricing, and availability freely.
If you are a tenant moving out of a property, you can transfer management of your listing to another tenant. This ensures continuity for the listing without needing to create a new one from scratch.
Verification & Trust
Tenant verification is our identity verification system powered by VerifyMe Global. It allows tenants to verify their identity using official identification documents. Verified tenants receive a trust badge on their profile and listings.
No, verification is optional but recommended. Verified users build more trust with potential housemates and may receive more interest in their listings. Verification is available as a free feature for all users.
Property managers and landlords can verify their ownership of a property by uploading relevant documentation. Verified properties display a trust indicator so room seekers know the listing is legitimate.
Account & Settings
Yes. House Yourself supports multi-role accounts. You can simultaneously be a room seeker browsing for available rooms, a tenant advertiser listing your spare room, and a current tenant in a property — all from the same account.
Yes! House Yourself offers two city-inspired themes: a light Cork theme with warm tones and a dark Dublin theme with cool tones. Toggle between them using the theme switch in the navigation bar. Your preference is saved automatically.
Visit your Profile page to update your personal details, upload a profile photo, and manage your account settings. Your profile information is displayed to other users when you create listings or make enquiries.
Payments & Pricing
During our early access phase, listing a room is free. In the future, there may be nominal listing fees, but we aim to keep costs low for individual tenants. Premium visibility options and promotional features will be available as optional paid upgrades.
Payments on House Yourself are processed securely through Stripe. Any future paid features such as premium listings or subscription plans will use this secure payment infrastructure. We never store your card details directly.
Support
If you see a listing that appears fraudulent, inappropriate, or violates our terms, you can flag it directly from the listing page. Our moderation team reviews all flagged content and takes appropriate action.
